About the Book
This volume compiles the papers presented at the national seminar on Sanskrit in the Twenty-First Century, organized by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Calicut, and Sahitya Akademi in May 2007. The collection includes important contributions from scholars such as Professor Satya Vrat Sastri, examining the role of Sanskrit in contemporary times. The papers address the research prospects of Sanskrit and explore its potential as a living language for creative writing. Sanskrit, regarded as the most invaluable legacy of ancient Indian civilization, is shown to be a treasure trove of knowledge across fields such as medicine, philosophy, architecture, jurisprudence, linguistics, lexicography, and environmental science. Contrary to predictions of its decline, Sanskrit continues to thrive, and its influence on the Indian psyche is stronger than ever. This collection serves as a roadmap for the future development of Sanskrit in the modern world.
