Saunders Waterford Cold Pressed Watercolour Paper Pad 300 GSM – 100% Cotton (Open Stock)
product brand
St Cuthberts Mill – Saunders Waterford
product description
Saunders Waterford Cold Pressed Watercolour Paper Pads are premium professional-grade watercolour pads, traditionally made on a cylinder mould machine by St Cuthberts Mill in England. Endorsed by the Royal Watercolour Society of Britain, this paper is crafted from 100% cotton, ensuring exceptional strength, durability, and archival performance for serious artists and professionals.
The cold pressed (NOT) surface is created using natural woollen felts, resulting in a beautifully random texture that enhances pigment granulation and brush control. The paper is gelatine sized on the surface and internally, making it highly resilient to scrubbing, lifting, layering, and other demanding watercolour techniques without damaging the surface.
Each sheet is buffered with calcium carbonate to protect artwork from atmospheric acids and discolouration, offering long-lasting preservation. The blocks are glued on all four sides, keeping the paper flat during heavy washes and eliminating the need for soaking or stretching. Once the artwork is dry, sheets can be easily removed from the block using the unglued opening.
Available in White and High White shades, Saunders Waterford is considered one of the whitest archival watercolour papers available, with no optical brightening agents. Suitable not only for watercolour, but also for gouache, acrylic, pastel, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, and printmaking, this paper is ideal for studio work as well as plein air painting.
